Can NRI’s invest in Mutual Funds?

Yes, Non Resident Indians (NRI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) can invest in Indian Mutual Funds on a full repatriation as well as non-repatriation basis the completion of KYC procedure and other formalities if applicable. It should however be noted that a few countries such as US and Canada have restricted investments by NRIs in Mutual Funds without relevant disclosures. NRIs from these countries, thus need to check once with their advisor on feasibility of investing in Indian funds before actually investing.
